of the European Airport of the year in 2004, the Athens International
Airport is the key airport in Greece. The Airport is also known
as the Eleftherios Venizelos Airport and was built as part of the
City’s infrastructure redevelopment and also as preparations
for hosting the 2004 Olympics. The airport is situated about 33
km from the Athens City Centre.
