The Atomium:

This is one of Belgium’s most prominent landmarks and a major attraction for visitors to Brussels. The Atomium was opened in 1958 and was built specifically for the World Fair. Its design was based on that of an iron crystal’s atomic structure.

In 2004, the Atomium was closed for major repair works and was only recently opened to the public on the 18th of February 2006. The Atomium is open to the public seven days a week between 10 am and 6 pm and guided tours are available. There is also a shop where you can purchase souvenir items and a restaurant. For more information on the Atomium including an extensive photo gallery, you can visit its website at: http://www.atomium.be/

Mini Europe:

Situated at the foot of the Atomium occupying a small park area, Mini Europe is an impressive display of miniature craft creations of major landmarks of major cities in Europe including; London, Venice, Seville and Berlin.
