Another
former soviet state, Azerbaijan is situated at the southwest of
the Asian continent off the Caspian Sea; south of Russia and north
of Iran. The Country has yet to establish economic stability and
there is currently an ongoing border conflict with neighboring
Armenia. Azerbaijan has a population of about 7.96 million people.
Azeri is the Country’s national language. Azerbaijan is a
major producer and exporter of crude oil. The Country’s currency
is known as the Azerbaijani Manat.

Baku is the Capital and largest city of Azerbaijan.
The city is the main center for commerce and trade. Baku is
also home to a number of Universities such as the Baku State
University, the Azerbaijan Medical University and the Azerbaijan
State Oil Academy.
