With
a population of about 731,941, Chisinau is the capital and largest
City in Moldova. The City is an important centre for finance, and
governance being home to the Moldovan Parliament. Chisinau is also
home to a large percentage of the Country’s manufacturing
and processing industries.
Chisinau is also an important centre for knowledge and formal
education. The City is home to a host of universities and colleges
such as the; Free International University of Moldova, Moldova
State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Technical University
of Moldova and the Chisinau University.
Transport in Chisinau:
Chisinau has a developed road network and the city’s traffic
conditions are not as congested as other more populated centers
in Europe. Public transport consists of buses and minivans.
Taxis are also available and are operated by a number of private
companies.
Chisinau International Airport:
The Chisinau International airport is the key airport in Moldova.
The airport is has one main terminal building and is the main
hub for local airline Air Moldova. The airport is not busy handling
under 0.5 million passengers annually. Air Moldova flies to Amsterdam,
Athens, Bucharest, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Lisbon, Moscow, Prague,
Rome and Vienna. Other airlines serving the airport are; Austrian
Airlines, Czech Airlines, Hungarian Airlines and Turkish Airlines.
