The Conimbriga ruins:
Now
in ruins, Conimbriga is a historic site that was a former Roman
Settlement. The ruins are easily reachable by road from the City
of Coimbra 16 km away. Archaeological findings from the area suggest
that Conimbriga was settled as early as the 9th Century B.C.
The Conimbriga Museum: situated at the site, this museum is
dedicated to the history of Conimbriga and houses a collection
of items found by archaeological excavation here. There is also
a small gift shop here selling a variety of souvenir items.
For more information on the ruins you can visit the official
Conimbriga site at: http://www.conimbriga.pt/english/
