The
Dublin Airport opened in 1940 is the busiest airport in the Country.
The airport is situated about 8 km to the north of the Dublin City
centre and at present there is no rail link from here into Dublin.
Transport consists of taxi, shuttles and bus. There are also a
number of car hire firms at the airport.
The Dublin Airport currently has one main terminal building
and there are advanced plans to expand the airport in order to
cope with already large numbers of passengers and flights. The
airport is the hub for the National Irish Airline Aer Lingus.
The airline provides regular scheduled flights to a number of
European and North American destinations. Aer Lingus also operates
on a number of domestic routes including the Cork and Shannon
