to one of the busiest airports in Europe, Frankfurt is another
of Germany’s key cities. The City has a host of tourist attractions
and is a key financial centre for Germany and Europe being the
headquarters for a number of major firms. Frankfurt is a modern
city with skyscrapers and modern shopping centers sprinkled with
historical buildings and monuments. The City is regarded as the
most culturally diverse in Germany.
The Frankfurt Stock Exchange:
As a major financial centre for Europe, the City is home to
the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. This is one of the leading stock
exchanges in the world.
Frankfurt International Airport:
The Frankfurt International Airport is the chief airport in
Germany and rivals the Charles de Gaulle and Heathrow in terms
of passenger and cargo flights. The airport is the domain of
German Carrier Lufthansa and has two passenger terminals.
Tourism:
Kaiserdom Cathedral: also known as the Frankfurt Cathedral,
the church was built in the 14th Century and is one of the
City’s
landmarks.
Frankfurt Zoo: home to more than 400 animal species, the zoo
is one of the oldest in the world, opened in 1858. It suffered
considerable damage during the Second World War and was then
reconstructed.
Frankfurt also hosts a number of cultural events each year such
as the “night of museums” held at the Museum Riverbank.
The City has a number of museums, restaurants, shopping centers,
night clubs and pubs to cater for most tastes.
