Built
almost five centuries ago, the Hampton Court Palace is a magnificent
complex, regarded as the Greatest Palace in Great Britain. The
palace is open at designated times to the public and is a major
tourist attraction. It is run by the Historic Royal Palaces organization.
Hampton was opened to the public in 1838 by Queen Victoria.
The Palace and its gardens which span about 600 acres host a
number of events and exhibitions each year including film, music
festivals, theatre and cooking classes at the Tudor Kitchens.
The Maze: another attraction at the palace’s gardens is
the life size hedge maze which was planted in the 17th Century.
Adult entry charges are 12.30 pounds for entrance to the palace
and gardens while a visit to the gardens alone will cost you
much less.
Opening times vary at different dates of the year for more detailed
information including ticket bookings; you can visit the Historic
Royal Palaces Organization website at: http://www.historicroyalpalaces.org/
