Situated
within the building of the Habsburg Palace, the House of Music
is a museum of performing arts opened in 2000. The palace was once
the home of Otto Nicolai who founded the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
The museum features amazing displays of music history and creation
together with modern technologies on its six floors. One of
the museum’s main attractions is the virtual orchestra
conductor where you can try your hand at conducting and directing
the tempo
of a music piece.
Other features of the house of music are; the Sonosphere which
occupies a whole floor and features displays of sound; the futuresphere,
a concert hall on the top floor and souvenir shops. This makes
it an ideal fun day time activity while visiting Vienna.
