A
central European nation situated to the east of Austria and bordered
to its west by Romania, Hungary is a recent addition to the European
Union having joined the organization in 2004. The Country is also
a member of NATO. Hungary was formerly part of the Austro-Hungarian
Empire which disintegrated following the end of the First World
War. The Country was also involved in the Second World War as an
ally to Germany.
Hungary at present has a healthy and stable economy which despite
being behind that of major European Powers sees the Country having
an unemployment rate of under 7 %. Major industries in the Country
include; food processing, machinery, pharmaceuticals and automobiles.
Government: the Country has managed to overcome political turmoil
during the first half of the 20th century. Hungary is now home
to a fledgling multi-party democracy with legislative elections
held every four years.
Languages: Hungarian is the Country’s national language.
Currency: the Hungarian Forint (HUF) is the title of the Country’s
currency. Hungary is yet to adopt the Euro as a member of the
European Union.

Budapest is the Capital and largest City of Hungary. The City

about 1.7 million residents. Budapest is an historic city having
been
in existence for centuries and being an important centre for
power and governance in the old Hungarian Empire.
