Hydra
is grouped as one of the Saronic Islands together with Aegina,
Poros and Spetses. The islands are so named because they are situated
in the Saronic Gulf. Hydra has a healthy tourism industry with
visitors attracted by the beaches, impressive architecture and
history of the island.
The Island’s beaches are a popular for wind surfing, sailing
snorkeling or scuba diving. Popular beaches are; Agios Nikolas,
Avlaki, Bitsi, Kamini, Limnioniza, Spilia and Mandraki. Hydra
also has museums, a number of resorts, holiday villas and hotels.
There are also restaurants, pubs, cafes and the nightclubs
and discotheques here are very popular. Travel to Hydra: there
is
a ferry service to the island from the port of Piraeus.
