Kefalonia
is a Greek Island situated in the Ionian Sea. The island is the
largest of the Ionian Group of Islands. Others are; Corfu, Ithaca,
Kythira, Lefkada and Zakynthos.
Argostoli:
Argostoli is the administrative capital and the largest City
in Kefalonia. This small town has a population of about 14,000
and is the main tourism domain on the island. The town is home
to a number of hotels and resorts. There are also a number of
restaurants, cafes, pubs and a number of night clubs.
Mt Ainos: The highest mountain on the island, it is home to
the Ainos National Park which was established specifically to
protect the endangered Fir trees found here.
Beaches: the island’s unsoiled beaches are lined with
cafes, resorts and pubs, and are popular for a variety of water
sports. Beaches in Kefalonia are; Lassi, Myrtos and Assos.
Kefalonia International Airport:
Olympic Airlines has regular flights to the Kefalonia Airport.
There are also a number of small charter companies that have
flights here. Though it is referred to as an international airport,
most flights arriving in Kefalonia are from Athens and other
cities within Greece. The Island can also be reached by road
via a bridge linking it to the mainland.
