Keukenhof Gardens:
The
Keukenhof Gardens are the largest flower gardens in the world.
The garden is opened to the public during the months of spring
usually between late march and May. Opening hours are usually between
8 am and 7.30 pm seven days a week. Entrance costs an adult 12.50
Euros.
The Garden is situated in the small town of Lisse
and can easily be reached by road from Amsterdam. The idea
of the park
was brought about in 1949 by the then Mayor of Lisse and a
group of people who shared the same notion.
Keukenhof remains closed during other times of the year and
in spring when it opens, a number of exhibitions are held and
entertainment includes live music performances. The gardens also
provide the setting for wedding receptions. There are a number
of restaurants within the park. Keukenhof makes for an ideal
day-time excursion.
