London Airports:

London which is regarded as one of the major world capitals is home to five major airports. These are Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton and the London Airport.

Heathrow International Airport:

Heathrow is regarded as one of the busiest airports in the world in terms of the number of passengers who use the airport each year. It is the largest of the City’s five airports and handles the bulk of international flights to and from London. About 90 airlines operate from here and the airport handled 67.7 million passengers in 2005 alone.

To and from Heathrow:

Heathrow has a range of transport options for travel into London including a coach service, public buses, taxi and train services. Train services consist of the much faster “Heathrow Express” which runs every 15 minutes and the journey into London takes approximately 15 minutes. There are also the underground tube trains which are more frequent though the journey time to London is close to an hour.
Gatwick Airport:

Gatwick is the second busiest airport in England after Heathrow. The airport caters mainly for international and charter flights and is also operated by British Airports Authority. Apart from the usual transport options which are; public bus, shuttles and taxi; the airports rail service known as the “Gatwick Express” which takes about 30 minutes to London. Trains operate every 15 minutes.

Stansted Airport:

One of the busiest airports in the Country after Heathrow and Gatwick, Stansted is linked to London via the Stansted Express train service which takes about 45 minutes to complete the journey. Other much slower options are; coach, taxi and bus transport.

Luton Airport:

Managed by the Luton Town Council, the airport also handles international and charter flights. Travel from the airport into London consists of taxi, bus, coach and a train service.

London City Airport:

Being the closest airport to the London City Centre, you can easily travel to and from the airport by bus, taxi or private means.
