Lubeck:
Lubeck
is an historic north-German City in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein
off the Baltic Sea. The City’s historic centre is one of
the largest World Heritage Sites as classified by UNESCO in 1987.
Although it is believed to be a location of early human settlement,
Lubeck was established as a town in 1143 and initially developed
as an important trade port.
The City became the centre for the Hanseatic League in the
13th Century. Today as one of the key cities in the State,
Lubeck has
a healthy tourism industry with visitors attracted mainly to
its historic sites and buildings. The City hosts a number
of music,
film and cultural festivals annually.
The City has two major shopping malls; CITTI Park and Konigpassage,
a host of other small outlets and stores, restaurants, cafes
and pubs. While in Lubeck you can also indulge in a number of
recreational activities including; horse riding, cycling, windsurfing,
sailing, yachting and golf.
The Lubeck Airport:
The Lubeck Airport also known as Lubeck-Blankensee has regular
scheduled flights to a number of European Cities including; Dublin,
London and Stockholm. The airport is situated about 9 km from
Lubeck City and transport from the airport is mainly by taxi,
bus or car hire.
