Managed by the Luton Town Council, the airport handles international, charter and domestic flights. It is one of London’s major airports serving more than 7 million passengers annually. The airport was opened during the 2nd World War for use as a Royal Air force Base. At the end of the war, the airport reverted to civilian use and the main terminal building was opened in 1985.

The Luton airport has one main passenger terminal building providing for both arrivals and departures. The Express by Holiday Inn is a hotel situated next to the airport’s terminal building. Room prices at the hotel average at about $ 113.00. Other services at the airport include; restaurants, cafes, pubs, foreign exchange bureaus, an information desk and a news agency.
To and From the airport:
Travel from the airport into London consists of taxi, bus, coach and a train service. The Luton Airport Parkway opened in 1999 is situated about 10 minutes away from the airport. A free airport shuttle provides transport to and from the station. First Capital Connect operates a train service from here into London.
