The
Principality of Monaco is a famous tourist destination. This small
country is located off the Mediterranean Sea at the southern French
Coast. The Country attained its independence in 1419 the year in
which the House of Grimaldi began to rule Monaco. Monaco City is
the Country’s Capital and the largest urban centre of this
tiny nation. Monaco has a land area of 1.95 square kilometers.
Famous sporting events: the Country hosts a number of sporting
events which draw thousands of visitors and create a carnival
atmosphere in Monaco.
The Monaco Grand Prix: started in 1929, the Monaco Grand Prix
is held annually and is a round of the prestigious Formula One
competition.
The Rally of Monte Carlo: a round of the FIA rally world championship.
The rally began in 1911 and is one of the most challenging on
the rally circuit.
Travel to Monaco:
Monaco has no airports of its own. The principality has one
heliport which conducts transfers mainly from the Nice Airport
in France. Visitors to the Country usually fly to nice then relocate
by road using an airport shuttle service running into Monaco.
The Monte Carlo Casino: established in 1878, this Casino is
one of the Principality’s main tourist attractions.
There are also a number of museums, parks, botanical gardens,
theatre, performing arts, restaurants and an entertaining nightlife.
