The Nobel Peace Prize:
The
Nobel Peace Prize is a ceremony held each year in the City of Oslo
at the Norwegian Nobel Institute.
This prestigious award was started
in 1901 and is handed to a person or organization that has
made significant contributions towards promoting peace and
reconciliation
in any part of the world. Previous winners include;
• Former US President Jimmy Carter,
• Mother Teresa,
• Nelson Mandela,
• Henry Kissinger,
• Martin Luther King,
• Theodore Roosevelt.
The Norwegian Nobel Institute is one of the City’s attractions
and is open to the public for visits. It is here that the award
is handed out and the Nobel Secretariat operates from.
