Norway:
Norway
is a Scandinavian nation situated off the Norwegian Sea west of
Sweden. The Country is ruled by constitutional monarchy system
currently under King Harald V. Similar to Denmark, Norway is yet
to join the European Union or adopt the Euro as its currency.
The
Country however joined NATO in 1949 following the end of the
2nd World War. Norway enjoys a healthy and stable economy and
the Country
has one of the best living standards in the world.
The Country
is a major exporter of Petroleum which is an important source
of revenue and foreign currency for Norway. Other industries
are;
wood and timber, food processing, fishing, chemicals and
textiles. Norway has a population of just 4.6 million people.
Oslo:
Oslo is the Capital and the largest City of Norway. It is also
an important port city and there are ferry services embarking
from the City’s port to Copenhagen and Frederikshavn.
The City has a population of about 0.6 million and is the main
commerce,
finance and centre for government in Norway. Oslo is an historic
city founded about 2000 years ago.
The City has a number
of historic buildings and museums. The Oslo International airport
situated
about 50 km from the City is the busiest in the Country.
