A
popular holiday destination, the Island of Paros is located in
the Aegean Sea and is part of the Cyclades group of islands which
also includes; Amorgos, Andros, Ios, Milos, Santorini, Mykonos,
Naxos, Sifnos, Syros and Tinos. The Island has a vibrant tourism
industry with visitors drawn by the friendly weather conditions,
holiday resorts, beaches, beautiful scenery and landscape and the
small friendly villages.
Paros National Airport: Olympic Airlines conducts regular flights
from the Athens International Airport to Paros. This airport
also handles charter flights. Flying is the main means of travel
to the Island from Athens.
Parikia City: the port city of Parikia is the island’s
main urban centre. The city is home to a number of good hotels,
museums, historic sites, restaurants and entertaining night
spots.
Paros Beaches: the island’s beaches are popular not only
for relaxing and taking in the warm sunshine but a variety
of sports including; scuba diving, wind surfing, sailing, beach
volleyball and swimming. Popular beaches in Paros are; Golden
Beach, Santa Maria Beach, Agia Irini, Parasporos and Kolimbithres.
The Archeological Museum of Paros: this museum situated at Parikia
houses a collection of historic items found at archeological
sites.
Other historic sites and museums are; the Frankish Castle, Folklore
Art Museum, the Byzantine Museum in Parikia and the Sanctuary
of Asklipos.
