Poland
is a central European Country off the Baltic Sea, bordered to its
west by the Czech Republic and Germany. The Country attained its
independence on the 11th of November 1918 following the end of
the 1st World War. The country was thrown into turmoil during the
2nd World War when it was invaded by German and Russian Forces.
Poland is a member of the European Union joining the organization
in 2004. It is also a member of NATO.
The Country has over the last decade experienced steady growth
and a good level of economic prosperity mainly caused by positive
government policies. Major industries in the Country include;
food processing, steel works, ship building, textiles and coal
mining.
The Polish Zloty (PLN) is the Country’s currency as Poland
is yet to adopt the Euro.
Poland is home to an estimated 38.5 million people. Polish is
the Country’s national language.
Warsaw:
Warsaw is the Capital and largest city of Poland. An historic
city, Warsaw became the Capital of the Mazovia in 1413, later
becoming the Polish Capital. The City is a major cultural,
financial and educational city. Warsaw is home to a number of
the Country’s
major manufacturing and processing industries.
