Slovakia:
Slovakia
is a landlocked central European Nation situated to the South of
Poland and the Czech Republic, north of Hungary. The Country together
with the Czech Republic joined to form Czechoslovakia in 1918,
a union which lasted until 1993 when both resolved to separate.
Slovakia is a peaceful and stable nation, a recent member of the
European Union. The Country’s currency is titled as the Slovak
Koruna. Slovakia has in the last few years enjoyed a healthy economy
with the main industries including; petroleum, automobiles, electricity,
chemicals, metal works and food processing.
Tourism in Slovakia:
Bratislava: the Capital City of Slovakia, Bratislava is situated
within a region of the same name. The city is located along the
banks of the Danube River in the southwest of the Country. Bratislava
is an historical city said to have been founded prior to the
10th Century as a permanent settlement. The City is one of the
feature attractions for visitors to Slovakia and boasts a number
of interesting sights including historic buildings, theatres
and museums.
Trencin: another historic city, here you will find a number
of historic buildings such as the “fortified castle”,
the Beckov Castle and Cachtice Castle. The City’s old town
features a number of religious buildings and here you will also
find a museum dedicated to Trencin’s history.
There is a seemingly endless list of historic sites in the Country.
Other places to visit are the towns of Zilina, Kosice, Nitra
and Trnava.
