The Tower of London:
One
of London’s major landmarks, the tower was built about 2,000
years ago and has been home to the British Monarchy and Government.
Over its years, the tower has served numerous other purposes including
being used as a high profile prison, a zoo and a royal fortress.
The tower is situated off the Thames River and is a popular tourist
attraction. The tower was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO
and is maintained by the Historic Royal Palaces Organisation which
is also in charge of Kensington Palace, Banqueting House, Kew Palace
and Hampton Court. It is here at the tower that the Royal Crown
Jewels are kept.
The tower music festival which began in 2005 is an annual music
festival featuring leading local and foreign artistes. The event
runs for two weeks and is usually held in early July.
Visiting the Tower:
It costs 15 Pounds for an adult though special packages are
